At the Hotel Avenida, we see hospitality as a long-term commitment: to our guests, to our team and to A Coruña. This is how we put it into practice.
Our sustainability policy guides every decision, from how we maintain the hotel to how we treat those who work and stay with us. It is based on four very specific principles:
We are moving away from a linear use of resources towards an approach that reduces, reuses and minimises waste in every area of the hotel.
We keep our environmental and social policies up to date and regularly check that they are being followed in practice.
We prevent pollution, save energy and water, and protect our cultural and social environment.
We promote equality, continuous professional development and intercultural respect, both within and outside the hotel.
Given that, in the area of sustainability, actions linked to SDG 7, SDG 8, SDG 6 and SDG 17 have already been actively incorporated, three new SDGs form the core of the current Sustainability Plan.
We look after the health of those who work and stay with us
We offer quarterly physiotherapy sessions to the whole team and are upgrading the air-conditioning and mattresses in the rooms to ensure a restful night’s sleep every time.
We are modernising the hotel to make it more efficient and safer
We are incorporating smart home technology into our air-conditioning systems, digitising internal processes and upgrading key infrastructure, such as our roof.
We choose to consume more consciously
We work with local suppliers, reduce single-use packaging and are expanding the vegetarian options at our Eira restaurant.
Our Sustainability Plan is a living document. These are the key milestones we have set ourselves for the coming years.
2026 – 2027
We are completely renovating the hotel’s roof using modern, more efficient and environmentally friendly materials.
2026 – 2027
We will increase the number of vegetarian dishes on our menu by at least 20 per cent, whilst always preserving the traditional cuisine that defines us.
2026 – 2028
We have replaced the mattresses in all the rooms to improve our guests’ comfort and the quality of their sleep.
Before 2027
We will complete the installation of smart climate control systems and hygiene dispensers in all rooms, reducing energy consumption and waste.
Our Sustainability Report is updated every year and its compliance is verified by the ICTE Sustainability Certification mark, which guarantees that what we report here is what we actually do.
